AI Convention Will Host Starcraft Bot Competition
The 2010 Artificial Intelligence and Interactive Digital Entertainment Conference (AIIDE) will host a Starcraft competition where players craft bots to compete against one another. There are no prizes except bragging rights, but the competition is free to enter. The final competition will be shown live at the conference with commentary and exhibition matches will also be held between skilled human players and the top performing bots.
Tournaments will be in micro-management, small-scale combat, limited tech tree and full games, all using StarCraft Brood War 1.16.1.There are detailed (and technical) rules and instructions on the official website.
Registration is free and goes from now until September 15, 2010 with testing from September 15, 2010 – September 30, 2010. Competition dates go from October 1st – October 15th with finals on October 15th.The event will take place at Expressive Intelligence Studio at UC Santa Cruz.
