Batman Arkham Asylum Sales at Nearly 2 Million
Batman: Arkham Asylum has sold nearly 2 million copies since its release on August 25th for the Xbox 360 and PS3. The PC version of the game is not even available yet (it releases this week).
This Guinness World Record holder is a sure sign of a turnaround for DC Comics and Warner Brothers who have lagged behind rival Marvel in movie and video game success. Even with the success of The Dark Knight (the fourth grossing film of all time), DC/WB has not been able to match the A-list superheroes of Marvel such as the Spider-man, Iron Man and X-Men movies. With Disney’s recent acquisition of Marvel, DC/WB will face even stiffer competition. Their own costly Superman movie and Razzie award-winning Catwoman have been considered flops.
DC Comics will be restructured and has brought new brand manager, Diane Nelson to be in charge of DC Entertainment with a mandate to better exploit its properties across the studio’s movie, television, interactive, digital and consumer products businesses.
