New screenshots are available for the upcoming Castlevania: Lord of Shadows courtesy of Gamescom 2009. Lord of Shadows is meant to be the rebirth of the Castlevania franchise; introducing it to a new generation of gamers.
Some details revealed about the game:
Storyline:
- Gabriel, whose wife was murdered, is the main character
- He is questing for two powerful holy masks (the God Mask and the Devil Mask)
- Will wield the signature chain-whip, daggers, holy water
- Does not follow any Castlevania Timelines
Gameplay
- More emphasis on platforming and environmental navigation than ever before
- More than an hour of cinematics
- Fixed camera angles
- In-game visuals generated via Mercury Engine
Castlevania: Lord of Shadows is roughly 60% complete and is expected to hit the shelves in 2010.
