“Chilling Co-op Horror Game Falls Prey to Underhanded eShop Scam”

Fans of horror gaming are buzzing about the recent release of R.E.P.O., developed by the Swedish team at semiwork. This online co-op title, featuring gameplay for up to six players, invites friends to uncover a lost era of humanity filled with chaos and humor. Since its early access launch in February 2025, the game has gained significant attention.

Beware of Imitations on the Switch eShop

If you’re perusing the Nintendo Switch eShop and come across a similarly named game, caution is advised. Users on the NintendoSwitch subreddit have issued warnings regarding a counterfeit titled REPO Horror. Reports from Gamesradar and PC Gamer confirm the availability of this misleading title.

Similarities and Deceitfulness

One Reddit user shared their experience of purchasing this game, initially believing it to be associated with the genuine Steam release. Upon closer inspection, they noted glaring discrepancies: “It felt off—very low quality and nothing like the official game I was expecting to see, not to mention, it wasn’t published by Semiwork.” The fraudulent game features similar logos and aesthetics to R.E.P.O., misleading unsuspecting customers.

Escalating Concerns

This scenario mirrors the situation faced by the developers of another title, The Backrooms 1998, which was released on the Switch earlier this year. Currently, there is no legitimate version of R.E.P.O. available for the Switch, prompting concerns about the ethics of the publisher behind the counterfeit.

Publisher’s Reputation in Question

The game “REPO Horror” is published by BoggySoft, which has also released another dubious title called Only Up!. This game appears to be a copy of an earlier title, OnlyUP!, released in 2023. In a further twist, BoggySoft has even listed a hypothetical file size for a potential Switch 2 version of REPO Horror.

Fortunately, the Reddit user has contacted Nintendo Support regarding this issue, and they report that the situation is being elevated to higher authorities within the company. The continued occurrence of such scams poses serious risks for both developers and consumers unaware of their unaltered nature.
