Recent adjustments to the pricing of Nintendo Switch 2 accessories in the United States have raised concerns among collectors and fans regarding a potential price increase for amiibo figures. This shift comes as Nintendo cites “changes in market conditions” as the driving force behind these modifications.
Updated Prices for Zelda amiibo
GameStop’s latest listings indicate that new Zelda amiibo figures, which will be released alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 editions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, are now priced at $29.99 USD. This marks a significant increase from their previous price of $19.99.
Price Increases for Other amiibo
Additionally, amiibo for Capcom’s Switch 2 edition of Street Fighter 6 are also seeing price hikes, with figures such as Luke, Kimberly, and Jamie listed at $39.99 USD. This represents a $10 increase over previous pricing.
Comparison with Other Retailers
While GameStop currently lists these new prices, other retailers like Best Buy have earlier shown the Zelda amiibo at $19.99 and the Street Fighter 6 figures at $29.99. The inconsistency across retailers highlights the uncertainty surrounding amiibo pricing.
Amiibo Functionality
These amiibo not only serve as collectible figures but also provide in-game benefits. The Zelda amiibo unlocks special fabrics for Link’s paraglider, as well as weapons and materials for gameplay. Meanwhile, the SF6 amiibo allows players to save and load character outfits, control styles, and earn exclusive items.
As of now, Nintendo has not officially confirmed the pricing for this new wave of amiibo in North America or listed them on the North American My Nintendo Store. Updates regarding these prices will be communicated as they arise.
