Halo Legends, Details and Release Date
Halo Legends, the upcoming anime shorts of the popular Xbox game, will come to North American on February 16th on DVD and Blu-ray. The standard DVD will run $19.98, the two-disk special edition for $29.98, and the Blu-Ray version for $34.99 (suggested retail prices).
The two-disk special edition and the Blu-ray version will feature:
- The Making of Halo Legends – An introduction to Halo Legends followed by a making-of segment for each episode.
- Halo: Gaming Evolved – Explaining the Halo phenomenon from its inception as an Xbox video game to a present day entertainment franchise
- Audio Commentary with directors Frank O’Connor and Joseph Chou
- Widescreen (1.78:1)
The Blu-ray will also include an overview of the Halo Universe titled, Halo: The Story so far.
“Halo Legends offers fans stunning, new creative visions of the popular video game’s expansive universe, providing added depth and perspective to these beloved characters and thrilling environments,” said Halo franchise development director Frank O’Connor. “Halo Legends is a perfect complement to the game’s growing canon of ancillary entertainment options.”
Halo Legends is a series of seven short films produced by five different anime studios. The five studios will be Bones, Casio Entertainment, Production I.G., Studio4 C, and Toei Animation, and creative director for Microsoft is Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed, Appleseed Ex Machina and a Halo player himself). Armaki is directing his own short focusing on the history of the Spartans.
