Japan to Get New Nintendo DSi LL, Europe Gets DSi XL
Nintendo updated their official Japanese website to announce that Japan would be seeing a new Nintendo DSi in November. The newest of Nintendo’s handheld systems has been dubbed the Nintendo DSi LL, and will feature a larger screen and longer battery life.
Available on November 21 in Japan for 20,000 yen ($220 equivalent, and appproximately 2,000 yen more the current Japanese DSi price), the new DSi LL will feature two 4.2″ screens and come in three colors: Dark Brown, Wine Red and Natural White. The battery life has been boosted from 9-14 hours to 13-17 hours.
The DSi LL itself is also bigger and heavier than its DSi predecessor, measuring 161 W x 94.4 D x 21.2 H (mm) vs. 137 W x 74.9 D x 21.2 H (mm) and weighing 314g to the DSi’s 214g.
The Nintendo DSi, which was launched in November 2008, featured upgraded screen size to 3.25″ from the DS Lite’s 3.0″.
Nintendo Europe confirmed they would be receiving the new DSi (DSi XL to them) sometime in Q1 2010. No word yet from Nintendo on when the DSi LL (or XL?) will be available in North America.
