Netflix Contemplating Jump to Nintendo DS
Netflix is on a roll lately, securing its streaming service on the Playstation 3, and upcoming service for the Nintendo Wii, on top of its availability on the Xbox 360 and Internet TV’s. What could possibly be next for Netflix now that they’ve conquered every possible outlet for their service? The Nintendo DS is a likely possibility according to a customer survey.
A tip provided to Kotaku suggests that Netflix is considering adding its streaming service for the Nintendo DS over WiFi. If this were true people would be able to stream movies where ever they are as long as they have access to WiFi internet. This could mean airports, offices, or parked outside of McDonalds.
The survey asks, “Imagine that Netflix offers its subscribers the ability to instantly watch movies and & TV episodes on their Nintendo DS. The selection available to instantly watch includes some new releases, lots of classics and TV episodes. There are no advertisements or trailers, and movies start in as little as 30 seconds. You can fast-forward, rewind, and pause or watch again. The movies & TV episodes you instantly watch are included in your Netflix membership at no additional fee.”
This could prove especially popular with the impending release of the DSi XL which features a much larger screen and longer battery life than that of its predecessors.
