Nintendo announced today that its newest handheld gaming system, the Nintendo DSi, will be released in the United States on April 5th. The new system is already available in Japan.

The DSi will come in two colors, black and blue, and will retail for $170. In addition to a new slimmer design the DSi features bigger screens, two digital cameras (one facing outward and one facing inward toward the user), a stereo headphone output for users to listen to music when it is closed, and a memory card slot for users to store music, photos and games. Users will able to edit photos, mix images and share them with friends, and play with sound recordings. Users will also be able to download content through the devices Wi-Fi wireless connection.
