OpenAI announced the expansion of its AI agent, Operator, which now caters to ChatGPT Pro subscribers across various countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and the U.K. The rollout took place on Friday.
The availability of Operator extends to most regions where ChatGPT can be accessed, though it is not offered in the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland.
Overview of Operator
Launched in January in the U.S., Operator is among several AI agents designed to carry out tasks for users autonomously. These tasks can include booking tickets, reserving tables at restaurants, filing expense reports, or making purchases on e-commerce platforms.

Subscription and Access
Currently, Operator is exclusively available to those subscribed to the $200-per-month ChatGPT Pro plan. Users can access the tool via a dedicated webpage, and OpenAI intends to integrate Operator across all ChatGPT platforms. Notably, Operator functions within a separate browser window, allowing users to regain control at any moment.
Competitive Landscape
The field of AI agents is competitive, with notable players such as Google, Anthropic, and Rabbit developing similar functionalities. Google’s initiative, however, is still in a waitlist phase, Anthropic provides access through an API, and Rabbit’s model is exclusive to users with specific devices.
