Last week, Capcom promised that the new Alternative Edition would be available for Xbox 360 and PS3 in the form of DLC. The new content won’t be available exclusively as DLC, though, as Capcom announced the Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition.

The Gold Edition will includea hard copy the two new episodes, costumes, and a Mercenaries Mode Refresh with 8 new playable characters called “Mercenaries Reunion”. The first of the new episodes, “Lost in Nightmares” will follow Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield’s investigation of Umbrella founder Ozwell Spencer in his hideaway. It will also include the original game and run for $49.99.

An additional 2 hours is expected from the new gameplay which will also support both single-player and co-op play.

This first episode and first costume pack will be available February 17th for Xbox 360 and February 18th for PS3 as DLC. The second episode and another costume pack will be ready on March 3rd for Xbox 360 and March 4th for PS3. Europe shares the same DLC release days. The Gold Edition will retail on March 12th.
