Sega has announced the development of an HD remaster of Sonic Advance (2002), titled Sonic X Cream Advance. This remaster is part of the ongoing effort to rejuvenate classic titles, following last year’s Sonic X Shadow Generations. Originally launched on the Game Boy Advance, Sonic Advance marked a significant transition for Sonic games after Sega exited the console market.
Game Features
Sonic X Cream Advance will be fully rebuilt with enhanced graphics, offering support for up to 4K resolution on compatible platforms. Players can expect new animated cutscenes and improved physics that align with the style seen in Sonic Origins.
New Character and Story Elements
Cream the Rabbit, introduced in the sequel Sonic Advance 2, will join the roster as a fifth playable character. She will navigate exclusive levels alongside her Chao companion, Cheese. These new segments will feature an original story penned by Ian Flynn, integrating Sonic Advance into the official Sonic timeline. Specific plot details have not yet been disclosed.
Platforms and Release Information
Sonic X Cream Advance is set to launch on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam, and SegaOS, as well as the newly announced Sega Teradeck. While a specific release date has yet to be announced, further updates will be provided as the development progresses.
