“Unexpected Turn: Microsoft’s Newest Windows Update Uninstalls Copilot from Your PC!”

The recent March update for Windows 11 24H2 has created significant issues, even leading to the unintended uninstallation of the Copilot AI assistant, a feature that Microsoft has heavily promoted in recent years.

Current Issues with the Update

According to reports from Windows Latest, users have experienced an unexpected bug causing the Copilot app to be removed from certain devices, as well as being unpinned from the taskbar. This issue is linked to update patches KB5053598 (Windows 11 24H2), KB5053602 (Windows 11 23H2), and KB5053606 (Windows 10 22H2). Microsoft has acknowledged the existence of this bug, has amended the relevant release notes, and is actively seeking a solution.

Additional Problems

In addition to the Copilot issue, the March update has been associated with a variety of other problems. Users are reporting Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) errors, crashing SSDs, and issues with Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). Previous complaints regarding RDP emerged when the 24H2 version of Windows 11 was first introduced in October 2024, and users believe this latest update has exacerbated those problems. Microsoft is currently investigating these concerns.

How to Reinstall Copilot

While the issue persists, users can manually reinstall the Copilot app from the Microsoft Store and pin it back to the taskbar. Notably, users of Copilot for Microsoft 365 appear to be unaffected by this bug.
