Unlock April’s Xbox Update: Shop Games on Mobile, Stream Your Adventures on Console, and Exciting New Features!

This month, Xbox is rolling out several key updates aimed at enhancing the user experience across platforms. Key features include streamlined purchasing through the Xbox app, new game streaming capabilities, improved storage management, and enhanced game hubs. Below are the details on these exciting additions.

Purchase Directly from the Xbox App

A highly anticipated feature for mobile users of the Xbox app is the ability to purchase games and add-ons, join Game Pass, and redeem perks right from their devices. Players can pre-order titles such as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 and have them set for pre-installation on their consoles. This feature will begin rolling out to beta users on both iOS and Android soon.

With an existing payment method saved, users will find a Buy button on game detail pages, simplifying the buying process to just two clicks.

Game Streaming on Xbox Consoles

Game Pass Ultimate members can now stream select games they own directly from their Xbox consoles, in addition to the Game Pass library. This feature makes it possible to play games instantly without the need for downloads. To access streaming, navigate to My games & apps > Full library > Owned Games.

  • Games that can be streamed will display a cloud badge.
  • Utilize filters to find cloud playable games quickly by selecting Filter > Ready to play > Cloud gaming.
  • Stream directly from the Store app after purchasing eligible games.

Expanded Game Library for Streaming

The game library available for streaming includes over 100 cloud playable titles for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. Recently added games include:

  • Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed
  • LEGO Marvel Superheroes
  • Subnautica 2
  • Monster Jam Showdown

Upcoming additions include titles like Agatha Christie: Murder on the Orient Express and Predator: Hunting Grounds. Check out the complete list of streamable games online.

Remote Play Access

Players can now access Xbox remote play on any device with a supported web browser by visiting xbox.com/remoteplay. While the mobile app will no longer support remote play, users can still access it through their mobile device browsers. This update extends compatibility to include devices like Samsung Smart TVs and Amazon Fire TV devices, enhancing the flexibility of where and how players can engage with their games.

Improved Storage Management

The Xbox update introduces a revamped method for managing storage space on consoles. Users can now receive recommendations on removing unused add-ons, duplicate games, and titles they no longer have access to. To utilize this feature, go to My Games & Apps > Manage > Free up space.

New Game Hubs

Game hubs are now available on Xbox consoles, providing players with detailed game information such as player stats, achievements, and available add-ons. These hubs can be accessed by selecting a game from the recently played list or installed games. A new setting allows users to bypass game hubs to launch games directly.

Dynamic Backgrounds for Xbox Consoles

A fresh dynamic background for South of Midnight has been introduced for Xbox Series X|S consoles, allowing users to personalize their gaming environment.
